For 20+ years I was employed at WWU’s College of the Environment, with my time being split between teaching and providing GIS technical support. I was also the Assistant Director of the Spatial Institute.

My primary teaching focus has been:

  • Introduction to GIS (most recently using ArcGIS Pro)

  • Cartography

  • GPS

Workshops & Consulting

I have also been providing freelance consulting for over 20 years. This takes two forms:

  • Independent GIS projects (spatial analysis and cartography, both web and static maps)

  • Training and instruction (workshops and 1-on-1 instruction)


As a workshop leader I currently offer 1-5 day trainings on:

  • Introduction to GIS using ArcGIS Pro

  • Migrating from ArcMap to ArcGIS Pro

  • Cartography with ArcGIS Pro

  • Introduction to GPS

  • ArcGIS Online

  • Arcade for ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online

I have been leading trainings on GIS, Cartography and GPS since 2001. My back-catalog includes:

  • Introduction to ArcView 3.x

  • Introduction to ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap, etc.)

  • Migrating from ArcView to ArcMap
